Today is the start of October, or Gháájí’, which translates to “half” and marks the “Separation of Seasons.”
The start of Gháájí’ brings with it a new moon on October 6. These two events mark the beginning of a new year in the Diné culture.
The Department of Diné Education Admin wishes you all a safe and happy start to the beginning of the new Diné year.
Nizhónígo nihi Diné nínáádooxah! (That translates to “May you all have a happy New Diné Year!” Translation by Mr. Donovan Pete, Navajo Nation Library Supervisor.)
