Teachers,

The Stanford Program on International Cross-Cultural Education (SPICE) is now accepting applications for the 2023 SPICE Virtual East Asia Seminar.

This free professional development opportunity for high school teachers is designed to offer a comprehensive overview of the geography, history, and cultures of East Asia.

Through this series of five Zoom sessions, participants will receive content lectures and curricular resources on modern China, Japan, and Korea, with a special focus to U.S.–Asia relations, the Asian diaspora in the United States, and the diversity of the Asian American experience.

This seminar highlights an effort by the Stanford Program on International and Cross-Cultural Education and the National Consortium for Teaching about Asia (NCTA) to encourage and facilitate teaching and learning about East Asia in schools.

This seminar is open to all grade 9–12 teachers, but is designed to be most relevant for social studies, world literature, and world language classrooms.

Applications are accepted until Jan. 13. The seminar will occur at 4:00-5:30 pm PT on Jan. 31, Feb. 28, March 21, April 18, and May 16, 2023.
